The Big Table is one of the leading independent restaurant companies in the UK. We operate some of the most recognisable and loved restaurant brands to be found anywhere in the eating-out market, such as Bella Italia, Café Rouge and Las Iguanas. We operate over 150 restaurant sites in a variety of locations including leisure parks, shopping centres and high streets. We are a national business, with restaurants located across the country, from Inverness to Torquay, employing thousands of people and serving millions of meals each year.

We are looking for a Buyer within Food and Drink to join our team in London. As a Buyer you will make a measurable and key contribution to the business through creating the optimal product and quality offer for the customer, negotiating the most favourable supplier terms and conditions, and managing supplier relationships.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Create and implement the strategic direction for food buying by category each year. Using their knowledge of BTG’s brands, the markets in which they are operating and the suppliers in those areas, Senior Buyers need to be able to create innovative solutions to drive best value.
- Create Strategic vision, develop and implement buying/sourcing strategies engaging all key stakeholders both internal and external
- Negotiate the most favourable commercial and contractual terms and conditions, over-riders, support and cost prices to deliver the Procurement financial plan
- Manage the commercial relationships with all suppliers
- Manage supply chain relationships through suppliers and third-party logistics provider
- Ensure all menus are delivered to the menu development timescale, at the right cost and to the agreed quality
- Fully embrace Health, safety, security, environment (HSSE), diversification working within CSR framework
- Work with the Technical Manager to ensure all food Safety, legislation and animal welfare processes and procedures are adhered to.

**Skills and Experience required**:

- Extensive cross category food buying and supply chain knowledge, preferably in a retail / food service organisation and or specific food & category management knowledge
- Solid understanding of food quality, manufacturing processes and costs
- Good technical food safety knowledge
- Supply chain experience and knowledge
- Minimum 3 years Food buying and category management experience, preferably in a major supermarket / food service organisation
