Job Summary:
As a Product Owner you will be responsible for setting, prioritising, and evaluating the work generated by a software Scrum team in order to ensure high quality features and functionality of the product(s). You are required to be a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in technology and a passion to deliver the best software solutions and innovative, industry-leading products. In your role you will:
- Develop, own, and execute product roadmap.
- Work with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders.
- Prioritise and maintain the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders.
- Work in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.
- Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
- Work with stakeholders and customers to formulate the product vision, strategy, features, and priorities.
- Work with internal stakeholders to report on status of the backlog and the delivery schedule of critical deliverables and business milestones.
- Lead the product functional design process based on a thorough knowledge of the users and technology.
- Be responsible for end-to-end launch of products.
- Develop and maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-release.
- Collaborate with global partners and customers as required to co-develop a roadmap.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Win the customer and act on behalf of the customer.
- Work with internal and external customers to analyse the needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals.
- Own the product roadmap.
- Develop scope and define backlog items (epic/features/user stories) that guide the Agile software development team.
- Develop and maintain an appropriately prioritised backlog of user stories for sprint planning.
- Develop appropriately detailed specifications of the product features such that they are clearly understood by the development teams.
- Be both a leader and a member of the team and represent the team in front of stakeholders, clients and users.
- Assess value, develop cases, and prioritise stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with the maximum value aligned with the product strategy.
- Solve product related problems, make decisions, complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments.
- Draft key objectives and results, strategies and make business decisions.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience, integration and dependencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of a product.
- Work closely with product/project management and senior management in order to create a product that fits the company and customer objectives.
- Be accountable and take responsibility for the created products.
- Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.
- Maintain a current knowledge of our competitors and the industry.
- Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In particular comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education and Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent education/experience
- Product Owner certification
Desirable:
- Master’s degree Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent education/experience
- Project Management certification
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

- In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles.

Desirable:
- Established background in launching software or services in partnership with engineering teams and high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, and understanding of Agile principles
