The Specialist Study Skills Tutor (Disability) sits within Student Advice and Wellbeing Services. You will be responsible for providing academic skills support for LJMU students who have disclosed a disability, and have additional learning requirements (this may include but is not restricted to SpLD, Autism and mental health difficulties). Working closely with the Disability Team, the Tutor will develop a package of support.

You will provide one-to-one and group study skills sessions in person and online, to support the diverse needs of disabled students and encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning. Awareness of the challenges faced by students at various stages of their academic careers is essential, and you will ideally have prior experience of learning development in a higher education context.

You will also be involved in the development, coordination and evaluation of a mentoring scheme for neurodiverse students.

The role calls for excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of academic staff and students to support curriculum and learning needs.
