Poole, United Kingdom Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 8b Principal Clinical Psychologist (37.5 hours) covering two Dorset services under the national Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway which input into the Probation Service.

The Dorset Pathways Project (DPP) is a consultation, formulation and training service to Probation staff and the STRIVE Team is an Intensive Integrated Risk Management Service (IIRMS), providing psychological and occupational therapy interventions to individuals under the Probation Service who are high risk to others and have complex trauma / personality difficulties.

The two services are linked and are psychologically led but multidisciplinary including forensic/clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, administrators, and qualified probation staff.

A base for this post is offered in Poole but travel will be expected as the role operates across Dorset, inputting into all the Probation offices including Weymouth, Dorchester, Bournemouth & Poole.

This role is twofold; one part will be providing direct and indirect clinical interventions (consultations, formulations, training and therapeutic work) and the other part will be providing operational leadership, including line management and supervision to staff.

You will be required to collate and present service updates and outcomes to commissioners and input into and support the Clinical Lead with strategy and service development.

You will have specialist skills in risk assessment, formulation and the delivery of highly specialised psychological interventions for individuals who are considered high risk of serious harm to others with significant personality difficulties.

You will provide highly specialised consultations to several agencies including the Probation Service, the Courts, the Prison Service and the Police. The Principal Clinical Psychologist will need to be able to plan and prioritise their clinical and management workload.

At Dorset HealthCare we’re on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient facilities and a wide range of integrated community and mental health services for a population of almost 800,000 people.

We do things differently here - it’s one of the reasons the CQC rated us ‘outstanding’ in 2019. It’s also why 95% of patients across our services say they have a good or very good experience of our services and 89% of staff feel they can really make a difference. Whether you’re looking to work with us in one of our bustling market towns, vibrant urban locations, thriving seaside spots, or among the rolling hills of Dorset, there are lots of ways you can make a difference in our communities.

Our 7,000-strong workforce is at the heart of what we do and our success is a testament to our brilliant people. We're all about building a workplace for the future, we believe in equal opportunities and we celebrate diversity.
