We are looking for enthusiastic, ‘can do’, and motivated Band 7 Mental Health Practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds to join our Multi-Disciplinary Team. We are keen to recruit Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers to join our service. An AMHP qualification or a willingness to work towards this qualification is particularly desirable.

As one of the main mental health service providers within Greater Manchester, we recognise the priority to achieve a parity between mental and physical health care and are committed to achieving this, enabled by our CORE 24 Liaison Mental Health services. Our services work at the interface between physical and mental health to bridge this gap. Our teams operate 24/7 to provide responsive mental health care in the acute hospital and A&E settings, delivered by experienced and established multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to nursing staff and MDT staff in the Liaison team out of hours and in line with relevant clinical pathways as outlined within the operational procedures.
- Support the management of the integrated Liaison multidisciplinary mental health service. They will provide clinical leadership and patient interventions focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge and improved quality of life for patients referred to the service.
- Be expected to support the band 6 practitioners in the assessment of Young people attending the A & E department offering highly developed risk assessments and management plans.
- Provide a service to the wards, assessing individuals with a range of complex needs, such as organic and functional illness, this would include dementia and a range of illnesses associated with people from later life. In addition, there will be a requirement to assess individuals with learning disabilities.
- Be expected to provide support and training to the acute hospital staff regarding recognising mental illness and appropriate onward actions to be taken.
- Deputise for Team Leader/Manager in his/her absence and take on any delegated management duties as required.
- Support the Directorate’s Bronze on call rota.
