Band 2 Nursery Assistant

The Little Explorers Day Nursery is based on the Queens Hospital site in Romford, RM7. We are a small Day Nursery that can cater for 50 children per day, between the ages of 3 months to 5 years. The Day Nursery provides education and care for the staff who attend Queens, King George and other NHS partners but not currently out to the community. We are open from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday. You would be expected to work a shift pattern, usually of 8 hours per day but some days may be longer and others reduced to suit the needs of the service. We are seeking a qualified, experience Nursery Assistant to join our established team who can bring new ideas to further develop our medium and long term plan to move from 'Good' to 'Outstanding'. Experience of working in a Day Nursery, Early Years setting or similar is essential, as is experience of being a keyperson, of planning and reviewing planning and next steps. You must have experience of implementing the revised EYFS and also the 3 'I's'. The ability to work on own initiative as well as a team is essential to this role. We welcome new ideas and suggestions that will make the Little Explorers experience the very best that it can be. Experience of OFSTED inspections where the outcome has been 'Good' or 'Oustanding' are welcome.

To provide the highest quality Childcare and Education (within a Day Nursery setting) for children aged between 3 months to 5 years, and whose Parents are employees of the Barking Havering and Redbridge NHS University trust). To act as a key person to a group of children and to observe, plan for and move them onto their next steps of development. To work in collaboration with other Nursery staff, and Trust Departments and external Partners, including the London Borough of Havering. To have the highest standards in the field of Childcare and Education, having a ‘can do’ approach. To be able to contribute to the Day Nursery quest to go from ‘Good’ at last OFSTED inspection to ‘Outstanding’.

More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and this will be one of the many benefits of our closer collaboration with Barts Health. Working with them and with all our partners across north east London, we will find a sustainable solution to enhance patient care.
