We are looking for an experienced Room Leader to manage our Baby Room.

The role can be 40 or 45 hours per week between the hours of 7.15am - 6.30pm, Monday to Friday

You are also required to attend some out of hours events such as monthly staff meetings, one open day event per year and two training days which are held on Saturdays.

r**Line Management Responsibilities**

Supervision of Trainees/ Apprentices and Nursery Assistants as required by Manager/Deputy Manager

To lead a team of people, to be their first point of contact in the nursery and always approach situations with an open mind keeping the child (ren) at the centre of all that you do.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

1 Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your room in conjunction with other staff

2 To keep on-line learning journals and developmental records up to date on your key children
- Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
- To ensure that you have read and understand Little Me Day Nurseries policies and procedures and where necessary seek guidance from the Nursery Manager
- Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members
- Ensure that the nursery offers an environment which reflects the cultural diversity of all children
- To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events;
- To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.
- Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled;
- Ensure all daily paper work is completed including registers, sleep charts, nappy charts and risk assessments;
- Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure the manager has initialled the report before the parent receives it;
- Look upon the Setting as a “whole” where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children;
- Maintain at all times the highest standard of cleanliness and tidiness within the nursery
- Ensure each child is collected by someone known to Setting;
- To respect the confidentiality of information received;
13 To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key worker;
14 Specific Child Care Tasks:

- The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;
- Adhere to the allergy, medical and dietary requirements of all the children within the nursery;
- To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing;
- Washing and changing children as required;
- Providing comfort and warmth to an ill child;
- Follow Little Me Day Nurseries behaviour management policy in regard to dealing with unwanted behaviour
- To ensure the Setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development;
- To be aware of the high profile of the Setting and to uphold its standards at all times.
- To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring Setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.
- Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager
- Hold a minimum Level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent

**Room leader specifics**
- Ensure that planning is complete
- Oversee completion of record keeping and daily paper work as required by the office
- Keep staff team up to date with information from the management team
- Ensure that all staff are following Little Me Day Nurseries policies and procedures at all times
- Keep minutes of room meetings and submit these to the Nursery Manager and Nursery Owner within 5 working days
- Be at all times a role model to your staff and the rest of the nursery team
- Overseeing the professionalism of all staff/students in the setting
- Keeping up to date with Little Me Day Nurseries policies and procedures of the nursery and being able to answer relevant questions from parents/carers and outside agencies such as the Early Years team and Ofsted
- Manage staff effectively, ensuring ratios are maintained throughout the setting
- Work with students allocated to your room and their supervisor, passing on your knowledge to them, practically and theoretically
- Ensuring the students allocated to your room are aware of and comply with the policies and procedures of the setting
- Irrespective of rooms welcome all parents and children to the nursery helping them settle
- To provide a wide and varied range of activities for your key children individually and for the group as a whole appropriate to their needs and developmental stage
- Ensure the room is set out ready for the children each morning and toys and equipment is stored correctly
