Material Index is on a mission to transform the built environment through large-scale material reuse; ‘turning waste into assets’ via an online marketplace. Construction accounts for 50% of UK landfill and 14% of global CO2 emissions every year.

Our in-house software allows us to rapidly catalogue materials in a building and sell these ‘assets’ via our online platform, prior to demolition.

Demand for our product and service has grown rapidly and the opportunity in this space is huge. We are seeking a motivated, self starter to drive the operations behind material exchange within the brokering team, as we build towards a full scale marketplace. **About the Role**

Marketplace sales are driven by our brokering team, who work with trade partners and logistic suppliers to enable material sales. The exchange of secondary materials is both complex and challenging. You will be responsible for ensuring the operations required to complete these transactions are robust and efficient.

We’re looking for someone who is operationally experienced, methodical and can handle multiple projects. Building relationships will also be key to the success of this role.

**What You’ll Do**
- Material Matching: Identify and connect materials from construction projects to new opportunities.
- Logistics Coordination: Navigate the complexities of moving materials, ensuring efficient and reliable exchange. Organise and book collections, manage multiple exchanges and ensure they happen.
- Establish Process: Develop and own best practices to ensure maximum reuse occurs.
- Site Visits: Visit sites, meet with project teams and qualify materials on site.
- Outreach: Proactively seek out and engage new partners, building strong, lasting relationships. From new supply chain partners to third party logistics companies.
- Marketplace Growth: Collaborate with the team to refine and scale our marketplace platform.
- Report: Ability to collate the exchange data and report on the exchange key metrics.
- Hands-On Support: Be ready to jump in where needed as we scale the company.

**What We’re Looking For**
- Process-Oriented: Understands the processes needed to complete collections from site, from physical to digital back-end operations.
- Operationally Minded: Able to think through logistics challenges and devise practical solutions.
- People Person: Excellent at building relationships, as working with different people from the site team, project managers, architects and clients will be empirical to our success in exchange.
- Sustainability-Minded: Passionate about reducing waste and promoting reuse in construction.
- Resourceful & Proactive: Thrives in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
- Industry Experience (a Plus): Background in construction, fit-out, demolition, project management, operations, brokerage, or similar industries is helpful but not required.
