The role of Senior Sales Manager is critical in helping us to deliver our goals when it comes to sustainability. ALCO’s aim is to ‘reinvent water for good’, by disrupting in the water & Water plus categories in multiple channel through innovative technologies. In doing so, build a scale, profitable new business unit for Britvic PLC. On a day to day basis you will be responsible for leading out the rapid and scale roll-out of our highly innovative and much acclaimed ‘flavoured tap’ platform, which we have developed in-house using a range of partners including Amazon. Of all the ALCO product range, this is the newest, most disruptive and highest margin. It is a game-changer. There are small handful of serious entrants to this market round the world - they are scaling rapidly in the USA and Asia, each with a few thousand units placed already and scaling very quickly. The macro environment is ‘hot’ for this (drive for sustainability, innovation, internet of things, health/wellness), and international demand is already proven, but the market is yet to get going in GB and Ireland. The market is waiting for the right proposition and individual -this is where you may come in
We need an individual who can just ‘crash through this’, influence with relentless drive and energy, and make the sales happen. This is a ‘full on’ new business role, though naturally the existing business management element will grow over time as the business grows. You will personally transform the GB commercial tap market. This is about deploying at extreme pace, land-grabbing before our competitors get there before us - its essential as we become THE flavoured tap solution in the market.
The role initially will focus on workplace, within the foodservice environment, but will work closely with a range of internal stakeholders (Commercial Director, Product Director, Head of Marketing, Finance Manager) to create the right strategies and business models to get after other sectors as quickly as possible, including education, leisure, retail, food to go, QSR etc. You may be involved in trialling some of these in the first year, but 99% of the focus in Year One will be workplace.
This role will define the strategy and implement the new business plan to scale this business at pace and profitably, achieving the KPIs set (primarily unit placements, margins, customer satisfaction). You will be able to access the Britvic network in contract catering and facilities management customers to build your pipeline, but much of your lead funnel will come of your own creation and creativity. This is a new product in a new space for us, so ‘end to end’ ownership of what to do and how to do it, is yours to truly #ownit.
This role will be a hands-on, sleeves rolled up, ‘start up ~ scale up’ one in nature. Time behind a laptop should be minimised - this is about making stuff happen in practise. Resilience, creativity, practicality, agility will be required - start ups and scale ups come with much joy and much pain - you’ll need to be up for this - this isn’t a role of the faint hearted. We need someone who will be ‘all in’. A business is being built from scratch here - this is not a role which is about maintaining the status quo or incrementalism.
