Welcome & Service Assistant (Boat Crew)

Would you like to be part of a property team responsible for the day to day running of our boat service? We'll need you to assist in enabling everyone to feel welcome and to have outstanding and inspirational experiences of our conservation work.

You'll provide a safe and efficient boat service for your location, as part of a broader team of Countryside staff on the property delivering great service to visitors and carry out practical and administrative work. You'll work effectively alongside our tenants and partners in the local community in order to protect and enhance the Trust's assets and reputation. You may supervise a small team of paid seasonal and voluntary crew.

Internally you'll be known as a Welcome & Service Assistant.

This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we strive to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

What it's like to work here:Stunning Brownsea island is located in Poole Harbour. The island is a haven for wildlife, with an array of habitats including woodland, heathland and a lagoon. The thriving outdoor centre hosts a variety of sports and activities. Travelling to work by water is one of the perks of the job at Brownsea Island and a free boat is available for staff. What you'll be doing:As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.

You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.
