Commercial Finance Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Finance Manager based in Portsmouth to manage a small accounts team, assist the Group Finance department and act as Business Partner to the key managers of the business. The role will include some travelto the other sites at Chatham and Southampton.
**Job Context**
The Finance Manager role offers a blend of commercial analysis and traditional finance activity. As with all finance roles the primary focus is to produce a set of accurate and well understood management accounts, taking ownership of the financials throughto TB production. The role holder will be responsible for month end, raising sales invoices, copying sales and purchase data into job management system (EMIR), posting monthly journals, accruals and agreeing Inter Company balances, made in line with Grouppolicy and that reflect the monthly activity of the business.

The role holder will attend monthly reviews of the management accounts with the MD and FC, discussing the ledger reconciliations that underpin the Balance Sheet in terms of risk and opportunity. Analysis of product profitability and customer profitability willalso be a key focus area, supporting the MD & FC, helping them to understand where the risk and opportunities are in their numbers. There is an opportunity to bring a more forward-looking view to the business, forecasting the financial statements out to theend of the year, highlighting risk to delivering the budget, or potential areas of out-performance.
The role reports into the Rubix FC from a financial perspective but operationally will report to the MD.
**Role responsibilities**:

- Day to day book-keeping within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, job time sheet entry and other transactions
- Overseeing the purchase to pay process to ensure transactions are recorded accurately
- Managing bank payments
- Helping with general management tasks related to finance function, such as ONS reports
- Ad hoc projects and financial process improvement
- Preparation of monthly management accounts including Trial Balance and Profit & Loss Statement
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and key control accounts
- Agreeing Inter Company balances
- Hosting the site Audit with the Auditors
- Debtor control and management, reviewing credit risk and customer payment performance.
- Weekly Cash Flow Forecast
- WIP and advanced billing control
- Support the MD & FC during the budget process, providing analysis that offers insight and can help the MD pitch the budget.
- Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT Returns.
- Assisting in the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaising with the auditors.

- Line management of finance assistant to ensure all accounts payable, receivable, time sheets are processed within agreed timeline

**Skills and Experience**:

- At least 3 years in a manufacturing or stock-based industry
- Part qualified studying to completion, fully qualified or QBE
- Excel skills are essential, pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, etc.
- Sage 50 experience if preferred, but not essential
- Experience with WIP accounting is preferred but not essential
