This is an excellent opportunity for an assistant technical officer to develop their skills and knowledge within a secondary care setting in a specialist hospital. The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe and is ranked as one of the top NHS Trusts in the country in the NHS national performance ranking. Our Pharmacy Department plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Trust’s reputation.
Led by an experienced and dedicated team, you will be a key member of the pharmacy team, working as part of the Pharmacy Stores. The role involves receiving, preparing and supplying bulk stock of medication, medical gas cylinders and other items to all areas of the hospital from a warehouse style department. You will also be required to undergo our structured training which will enable you to successfully complete the departments competency accreditation programmes and enable you to undertake the role successfully.
You must have excellent communication and numeracy skills, the ability to work on your own as well as within a team and be highly motivated to deliver excellent patient care.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers including pharmacy staff, health care professionals and delivery personnel.
- Become trained in and follow all procedures for stock ordering, distribution, and stock control.
- Support the Stores & Distribution service provision by participating with the stock control of medicines, IV fluids, containers, medical gases, ensuring correct storage and rotation of medicines.
- Participate in the receipt/ checking of goods from different suppliers and booking in the deliveries on the pharmacy computer system if necessary.
