We are looking to appoint 1 x Assistant Recycling Operator to assist our Recycling Team who have responsibility for the provision of a wide range of waste recycling services throughout the University Estate.-
- You will work as part of a small team who look after waste recycling service including waste and litter uplifts and processing to the extensive and varied University estate. You will be responsible for the safe transportation and recycling of a variety of different materials, including, paper, cardboard, plastic, cans, glass, electrical goods, IT equipment and food waste. The recycling team also work closely with the Estates Environments team supporting the University in its recycling operation. You will be required to work and maintain good working standards at all times, be responsible for daily checks, upkeep, and cleaning of all recycling vehicles. To assist with recycling duties, you will be required to drive University vehicles, operate recycling equipment, and undertake manual handling activities.-
- You should be flexible in your approach, have good general education, achieved an SVQ2 (or equivalent) in a related frontline environmental Services or equivalent, with demonstrable post-qualification experience. Be an excellent communicator, highly motivated and have a helpful manner. You should also possess a valid driving licence. The ability to cope well when under pressure and the ability to demonstrate a flexible approach without supervision is essential. You should also be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member. Forklift certification would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.- 2.45 Specific timings will vary between work colleagues to suit any operational needs); 30 days annual leave plus 5 statutory days; contributory pension scheme.
