**Career Opportunity** **Job Title**: Cook **Reports to**: Manager Ø **Hours** - 2 days a week 9am till 6pm Ø **Pay**: - £10.25 per hour Ø **Location **- Tudor Bank Nursing Home, Southport, PR8 2BP _(_As part of We Care Group, you may be required to work from other locations at the discretion of the company and with appropriate notice)_ Are you a passionate Cook and do you enjoy being creative and have a enthusiasm for serving delicious, home cooked food? **About you** You would ideally have prior experience of being a cook and you will be responsible for delivering personalised menu plans and catering support for special events and functions at the home, within the constraints of budget. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the kitchen and formal supervision of kitchen staff. A quality kitchen experience has positive benefits on the physical and mental wellbeing of our residents. You’ll demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety and hygiene and will always have the residents wellbeing in mind above anything else. **Job Overview** You will help our residents enjoy delicious, quality and nutritional meals they deserve. You will assist in the preparation of a range of meals to suit individual tastes and requirements. You will have Chef experience (preferably gained in a care home setting) and will have what it takes to nurture, encourage and care for the residents making a meaningful contribution to someone's life, which is fulfilling, and requires flexibility and professionalism. **Responsibilities and Duties of the Job** Ø Creating a varied and nutritional menu in line with dietary needs and preferences Ø Training and managing the kitchen team in prepping Ø Managing all mandatory paperwork including: adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures Ø Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required) Ø Ordering and procuring fresh food and other foodstuff supplies from Preferred Suppliers Ø Regularly monitor stock control and to inform the Manager of any discrepancies. Ø To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "sell-by" dates for any reason. Ø To prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, taking into account, the content, balance, colour and nutritional values of each meal Ø To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations Ø Ensuring deep cleaning schedules and rotas are completed appropriately Ø To assist in the monitoring and recording of refrigerator, chiller and freezer temperatures in accordance with Environmental Health requirements. **Personal Responsibilities** Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management - (Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required)_ **Company Benefits** Ø Blue Light Card Ø NVQ’s available (eligible for student discount card) Ø Cover the cost of the DBS (£40) Ø Uniform provided (company branded tunic x 2) Ø Company Events (such as Care Awards) Ø Buddy System (receive £200 upon your buddy successfully completing their probation period) Ø Employee of the month (£100) Ø On site parking **Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent **Salary**: £10.14 per hour Schedule: - Monday to Friday - Weekend availability **Experience**: - Nursing Home Cook: 1 year (preferred) Licence/Certification: - NVQ or equivalent (preferred) - Food Hygiene (preferred) Work authorisation: - United Kingdom (required)
