Market Oversight is responsible for overseeing primary and secondary market activity through its role under the market abuse, listing and short-selling regimes. Market Conduct Enquiries is part of Secondary Market Oversight, which has the primary responsibility for identifying and reviewing cases of potential market abuse and referring the most serious cases to Enforcement.
We are looking for a new team member to join our Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities (FICC) Market Abuse team, specialised in market abuse in FICC markets. While large part of our work is driven by Suspicious Transactions and Order Reports (STORs) received from market participants, we also review markets on a thematic basis to examine trading behaviours and assess for potential market abuse.
What you will be doing (the role)-
- Responsibility for the assessment of Fixed Income market abuse allegations, conducting triage, pre-Enforcement referral investigation and analysis and determining which cases should be recommended for formal investigation by Enforcement- Supporting management in decision-making, prioritisation and delegation of market abuse assessments through day-to-day management and oversight of triage process- Being embedded in formal Enforcement investigations, working at the direction of the relevant Enforcement project manager, to gather and analyse evidence and to provide Enforcement teams with specialist Fixed Income expertise- Working closely with specialists in Secondary Market Oversight to identify and analyse market events and trading of interest or concern- Leading for Secondary Market Oversight on various thematic projects, workstreams and/or key areas of responsibility, involving working with other areas of the FCA and representing the department to internal and external stakeholders

The skills and experience you’ll have
Minimum- Significant practical experience in Fixed Income markets and products gained as trader, sales, research analyst, quant, or similar role in either a buy or sell-side firm or trading venue- Significant technical understanding of Fixed Income market structure, rates and credit flow products including exchange and OTC-traded derivatives
