**Job description**:
An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Health and Safety Advisor to join a fast paced and agile DIO's Regional Health and Safety team working within the South East Region.

The team provides the intelligent customer capability for Health and Safety within DIO, through our proactive and engaging approach to assurance and performance; we seek to monitor and develop DIO policy to meet H&S legislation, codes of practice and MOD policies. Our team delivers a professional support capability for estate infrastructure areas in respect of H&S advice. Join the team and become part of a growing Health and Safety community

They will be a specialist in Health and Safety legislation and standards to assist with compliance and continuous improvement of DIO through the creation of innovative ways to measure Health and Safety performance, so they are accurately monitored.

The role requires an outstanding communicator to spread the message and promote DIO values of safety first.

**Responsibilities**:

- Working in collaboration with Regional Delivery and our Maintenance Management contractors in the implementation of standards and procedures crucial to ensuring compliance with current applicable legislation and our internal policies.
- Coaching and mentoring project teams and supervisors in behavioural safety and intervention techniques in response to poor safety practices or unsafe acts encountered on site.
- Actively promoting close call reporting across operation activities and projects, encouraging and mentoring site teams in use of the electronic Incident reporting systems, proving root cause analysis.
- Undertaking site safety tours and inspections.
- Proactively engaging with DIO workforce to deliver H&S training and up skill the respective teams.
- Undertake (based on risk) deep drive assurance reviews within the organisation to establish H&S compliance.
- Provide H&S support to the contracts function through undertaking Pre-qualification questions (PQQ) reviews, tender evaluations, Construction Design Management (CDM) proficiency assessments on behalf of MOD Client, construction site monitoring activities & construction site surveillance.
- Adopting DIO’s values and using these to improve performance.

**Desirable Experience & Skills**

Membership of a Health and Safety Institution.

**Licences**:

- Must hold a full driving licence - Requirement to travel to remote sites which are not easily accessible by public transport**Qualifications**:

- MUST HOLD NEBOSH certificate in HEALTH AND SAFETY or equivalent**Behaviours**:

**Working Pattern**
