**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Direct Support**: To provide safe and stimulating hands-on support to children and young people, fostering their development and independence, and promoting positive outcomes for young people.
- **Operational Excellence**: Contribute to the smooth operation of our residential care facilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and ensuring a high standard of care is provided to the young people.
- **Safeguarding Culture**:To ensure the safeguarding of children at all times. To support the home to embed open cultures of safeguarding practises and to follow all safeguarding and whistle blowing policies at all times. To ensure open and transparent communication with team members and management and ensure effective reporting and recording systems are in place to support the safeguarding of young people.
- **Team Management**: Lead and mentor a team of dedicated residential childcare practitioners providing induction, coaching, and mentoring. Ensuring the delivery of effective supervision and development of staff
- **Quality Care**: Uphold high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards 2015 and care standards 2000 regulations.
- **Prioritising Child Welfare and Safeguarding Protocols**: To ensure children’ s welfare is paramount, and that child protection polices, and protocols are always adhered to by working within the parameters of safeguarding children, risk assessment, health and safety, safe handling of medication, and other legislation relevant to the setting.
- **Shift Leadership**: Take on a shift leader role, coordinating activities, ensuring child safety during on-site and off-site events, leading and guiding staff to ensure the effective running of the home on a day to day basis.
- **Family and Professional Engagement**: Collaborate with parents and professionals to ensure the holistic well-being of children, working with the wider community and where necessary appropriately and professionally challenging professionals to ensure young people’s needs are met to the highest standard.
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Maintain strict adherence to regulatory requirements, safeguarding, and health and safety protocols, while also ensuring the accurate reporting and recording of information within the home, in accordance with the Children's Home Regulations 2015. This includes maintaining records of daily activities, achievements, and concerns to ensure transparency and accountability.
- **Inclusion and Diversity**: Foster a diverse and inclusive environment that respects individual backgrounds and identities and promotes equality within the home.
- **Care Planning**: Participate in care planning of the young people, attending meetings and ensuring that the young person’s needs are met in line with the relevant plans. Actively contributing to children's goal setting and achievements.
- **Key Worker**: Act as a Key Worker for identified young people, overseeing their records and well-being, advocating on their behalf and attending meetings regularly.
- **Communication**: Promote open and transparent communication within the team, ensuring a healthy supportive work environment that promotes a positive team cohesion.
- **Flexibility**: Be flexible in working hours, including weekends, sleep-ins, and waking nights, to meet the service's needs.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- **Desirable Qualifications**: NVQ Level 3 in a childcare-related field, NVQ Level 3 Diploma for Residential Care.
- **Skills**: Strong communication (verbal and written), IT proficiency, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage challenging behaviours and medical needs.
- **Knowledge**: Understanding of learning, sensory, and physical disabilities, current legislation, care practices, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations.
- **Experience**: Previous experience supporting children with disabilities and their families, teamwork, and behaviour management.
- **Commitment**:Commitment: Dedication to diversity and person-centred practice, as well as a satisfactory DBS check (Essential).
