Welcome & Service Assistant

Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of a small passionate team this role as a Welcome & Service Assistant, plays a core part in providing fantastic customer service.

This role is based in our Visitor Reception at Chastleton House 4 afternoons a week, and is permanent staff role working during our open season (Wed-Sun, March-October). Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, and weekend working will be required.

What it's like to work here:A rare gem of a Jacobean country house, Chastleton House was built between 1607 and 1612 owned by the same increasingly impoverished family until 1991, the house remained essentially unchanged for nearly 400 years as the interiors and contents gradually succumbed to the ravages of time. With virtually no intrusion from the 21st century, this fascinating place exudes an informal and timeless atmosphere in a gloriously unspoilt setting.

You'll work as part of the Welcome Team, being the first point of contact for our visitors as they journey around the site. You'll also understand how your role impacts the other teams at the site.

What you'll be doing:As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.

You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit, selling tickets and memberships and giving a warm welcome and lovely goodbye. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.

You’ll ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and journey around the site.
