Below are details of what the role entails:
**Support to develop general household skills**
The young person needs to be shown and supported to use all electrical appliances in the house in a safe way.
The young person needs to be supported to wash and iron clothing
The young person needs to be supported to shop on a budget for food, cleaning, and household items
The young person needs to be supported to prepare healthy meal plans, preparation and cooking of food and storage of foodThe young person needs to be supported to carry out household cleaning tasks and purchase appropriate cleaning materials
The young person needs to be supported to maintain the property in good standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
**Support to access education, work placements, employment, and social activities** The young person needs to be supported to access social activities in the local area or beyond
The young person needs to be supported to access education/college
The young person needs to be supported to access work placements or employment
The young person needs to be supported to attend appointments
The young person needs to be supported to use public transport and shown the bus/train timetable
The young person needs to be supported with preparing a CV
The young person needs to be supported, encouraged & given guidance for training.
**Budgeting and money management**
The young person needs to be supported to understand how to save and minimise costs on gas and electricity
The young person needs to be supported with budgeting and money management, including debt advice
The young person needs to be supported to understand process for paying bills
Advise Young People of the consequences of not paying bills.
**Support with Personal Health**
The young person needs to be supported to register with Doctor, Dentist and Optician
The young person needs to be supported to attend all health appointments with medical professionals, including hospital appointments
The young person needs to be supported to access substance misuse (drugs, alcohol) services if required
The young person needs to be supported to and advised about personal health and living a healthy lifestyle
The young person needs to be supported to access support around their mental health.
**Support and guidance in preparation for independent living**
The young person needs to be supported to explore housing options for independent living
The young person needs to be supported with housing appointments
The young person needs to be supported to prepare for move on to independent housing
The young person needs to be supported and given guidance on small DIY tasks i.e., hanging curtains, blinds, changing light bulbs and checking the metre
**All staff will be required to learn the below procedures**:
Reporting a young person missing - this procedure is followed when the young person has not returned home at the agreed time, they are not answering any calls or text messages. Staff will be required to check with friends or family to make sure that the young person is not there. If the young person is not there, staff will need to call the police and report the young person missing and give all the relevant details ( these will be provided to staff). After reporting the young person missing to the police, staff will be required to contact EDT.
