An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Project Editor to join the Genomics Education Programme (GEP) in NHS England on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.
As Project Editor, you will bring your well-honed editorial expertise to a dedicated multidisciplinary team to support the planning, commissioning, writing, editing and publishing of a wide range of educational and awareness-raising content about genomics in healthcare, including articles, e-learning and multimedia.
Genomic medicine is a cutting-edge and fast-moving discipline that is playing a key part in improving patient care, through more accurate diagnoses, preventative or earlier interventions, and access to new therapies. The GEP exists to deliver education and training opportunities for the NHS workforce to support them in adopting the latest genomic technologies and bring those benefits to patients.
Please note that the reason for the fixed term of this contract is to provide maternity cover.
**The main duties of the job are to**:
provide editorial skills and expertise to support the development of educational content across a range of styles, formats and media;
write, edit, review and publish textual content to the highest standards;
work with external suppliers, such as e-learning developers and multimedia producers, devising briefs, reviewing drafts and providing constructive feedback;
support the communications activity of the programme across various channels; and
act as editorial lead on a range of projects, taking ownership and championing high standards of quality, accuracy and innovation in content development.
The NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
Delivering value for money.
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you’ll usually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher. You can find more information on the Government website.
