**Job summary**:
This post will work within primary care and community settings developing key relationships involving patients, General Practitioners and primary care colleagues, clinical team, other health care staff, and non-statutory organisations alongside training provider tutors and clinical supervisors.
This is role within the Talking Therapies Portsmouth service providing high intensity interventions. The post-holder is to provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
- Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service
- Assess patients for suitability for CBT. Where the problems appear to be too complex or severe to be appropriate for a trainee therapists to refer to manager/supervisor for advice on how to manage the case, and make onward referral or signposting as directed and appropriate.
- Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, and refer unsuitable patients onto the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary
- Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for patients
- Facilitate therapy groups
- Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, BABCP accredited training in CBT or basic professional qualification in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
**Desirable**:
BABCP accredited
**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Experience of specialist psychotherapeutics assessment and treatment of patients across the full range of care pathway settings, including outpatient, community, and inpatient settings (or presenting with same level acuity)
Experience of supervising other mental health professionals and teaching/training within a veteran specific sector
Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
Ability to manage own caseload and time
Extensive experience of providing evidence based and NICE compliant treatments
**Desirable**:
Experience of training in management and/or coaching
