**About the role**

Ashgate Hospice is currently recruiting for a newly created role of Clinical & Environmental Assistant to support and assist the IPU staff in delivering a high standard of care, in a welcoming and comforting environment.

**Hours**: Full-time 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

The main responsibilities include:

- Maintaining good housekeeping of treatment and storage areas by replenishing and organising stock as and when required whilst also working with housekeeping staff to ensure a high quality of cleanliness.
- Liaise with various departments and other members of staff and/or volunteers to ensure the expected standards of cleanliness of the ward is maintained.
- Contribute to the promotion of a safe working environment, reducing hospice acquired infection and complying with hospice operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain asset register, prepare equipment/appliances for servicing whilst also completing the required documentation and also reporting faulty equipment/appliances.

**About you**:
Outstanding communication and organisational skills are essential for this post. You will be required to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be committed to making a positive impact on the lives of patients, families and colleagues alike.

You will need to demonstrate a calm and approachable manner, a caring and sensitive approach with a commitment to the hospice values, vision and strategy.

You should demonstrate personal integrity and have the ability to motivate others.

Skills and experience required.
- Previous experience within a healthcare setting would be advantageous but not essential
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of terminally ill people
- Confident in communicating, documenting and updating records
- Motivation and commitment to personal and professional development
- A commitment to Ashgate’s values
