**Salary**: £12 to £12.50 per hour depending on experience (£50.00 per sleep-in, working approx. 6-8 sleep ins per month)

Shift pattern : 8 hours shifts

At Strive and Succeed, we are a new (Ebd) children's residential care home located in Luton.

We are searching for a highly experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to form part of our senior team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- To ensure a high standard of consistent care and service in accordance with legislation, government guidance, regulations and standards, and the policies and procedures of the registered provider.
- To liaise with the registered manager and deputy manager to ensure a coordinated approach to services for children and young people.
- Assist the management of the home in developing the skills and potential of residential support workers.
- Support the Registered Manager with the effective and efficient running of shifts.
- Work within, and ensure effective delivery of the policies and procedures in the home.
- Monitor and maintain administrative requirements, ensuring that the outcome meets the standards set out in children’s legislation, and the home's working practices.
- Ensure ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day to day practices.
- Oversee, supervise and develop the skills of staff in their daily working practices.
- Promote and actively encourage the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team both within the home and with external agencies.
- At all times ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the children and young people.
- Ensure staff are aware of, and deliver the support required to ensure the life chance opportunities of children and young people are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.
- Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities.
- Ensure a variety of intervention strategies are utilised in relation to behaviour

management.
- Where required, attend reviews and or meetings.
- Senior staff to be part of the on call rota.

Skills and Experiences:

- Working with children and young people : 1 year in an EBD residential children’s home setting (required)
- At least 1 year full time experiance working in a residential children’s home required)
- Knowledge of the Care Sector. A good understanding of Health and Safety legislation. NVQ 3/ level 3 diploma or equivalent In children and young people required.
- Good knowledge of IT
- Knowledge of law and practice relating to looking after children.
- Minimum of two years experience with the Service User group. Ability to facilitate children and young peoples’ recreational needs, daily living skills, and promote their emotional well being. Basic awareness of health needs - e.g. Ability to notice and act on changes in children and young people’ health
- Ability to work according to principles of ‘normalisation’ i.e.
- Enabling children and young people to develop independence skills.
- Respecting and enhancing the children and young peoples’ social status. Keeping information about children and young people confidential.
- Ability to promote high standards of care.
- Able to balance mixed workload and prioritise.
- Ability to liaise with a range of people e.g. GPs, Consultants, Social Workers.
- Ability to work closely with children and young peoples’ families e.g. listening to their views, keeping them informed. Patience. Attention to detail. Clear Speech.
