What we expect from you:
Are you looking for a satisfying design role where you feel part of the process from conception to customer? Do you love seeing little one’s wearing your designs? Do you love the JoJo handwriting?

As part of our busy, but friendly, design team, you will be responsible for designing & helping develop multiple items across the breath of our childrenswear fashion and essentials categories including shoes, and accessories. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves all aspects of design including development of sophisticated print designs, sweet embroideries & bold appliques. Working closely with the JoJo buyers to develop a balanced range and supporting and coaching the design assistant, you will use your skills to help bring to market fun and engaging designs in line with the JoJo brand identity.

You’ll be in a fast-paced omni-channel retail environment creating and managing the development of quality, fun and engaging designs that makes JoJo unique.

**A day in the life**:

- Researching and presenting trend and inspiration, comparative analysis & competitor observation.
- Building a strong working relationship with the buying team, participating in range analysis, reviewing success and failures, and developing ranges accordingly together.
- Designing & developing new and innovative items across a variety of categories and requirements; bringing JoJo USP and added value to all new lines. Liaising with technologists to ensure product meets safety requirements.
- Producing sophisticated print designs in a variety of handwriting, either from scratch or amending bought prints. Designing complex applique and embroidery designs.
- Ensuring design hit rate maintained and time is not wasted whilst always pushing design forwards and problem-solving constraints.
- Drawing up illustrations and completing detailed specifications. Liaising with buyers and technologists to issue specifications and reviewing samples to ensure design vision is correctly interpreted.
- Owning the design critical path and supporting development and production critical paths to ensure business deadlines are met. Managing suppliers during development to ensure key critical path dates are met. Problem solving and driving resolution where necessary.
- Ensuring sample comments are fed back to suppliers in a timely manner and further sampling requested as necessary. Working with the buyers & technologists to ensure products are made to design vision.
- Actively engaging in ethical or environmental improvements to our sourcing and supply base.

What we look for in you:
**Skills that make you shine**:

- Solid experience in designing within the childrenswear market. Some experience within womenswear category, or adaptable skills to demonstrate capability.
- Experience working across multi product categories including Shoes and Accessories
- Proven experience producing new and innovative designs to fast paced deadlines, with a strong hit rate.
- Evidenced commercial and market awareness and innovative thinking in research.
- Ability to understand the JoJo brand and customer and use of that knowledge to design accordingly.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Sound interpersonal communication & influencing skills.
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric & printing techniques with ability to communicate design vision clearly to team & supply base.
- Ability to confidently use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for CAD, Print and Graphics.
- Proven ability to produce sophisticated AOP multi layered repeat prints in a variety of handwriting styles, plus knowledge of print and embellishment methods.
- Constructive management and mentoring skills - being a positive role model.
- Amazing organisational skills. Never missing a trick with great attention to detail
- Ability to get things done and improvise as required with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ability to prioritise and work in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Packages
