We are one of the UK’s leading sofa and carpet specialists, and you can find us on numerous retail parks all over the country.
We have 99 retail stores, serviced by 9 distribution centres. For over a century, ScS has been providing customers with an excellent customer experience, selling beautiful products with outstanding value, quality and choice. Our primary product focus is in retailing sofas, flooring and dining, helping customers to create the home they’ll love.
The role on offer is predominantly based at our Sunderland City Centre Head Office, we operate a hybrid working structure, giving you the flexibility to split your working pattern between office and home.
There will be some travel involved but this can usually be planned in advance.
**What is the opportunity?**
We are looking to recruit an experienced Business Partner to support the growing insight demands of the business. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Reporting, this exciting role offers an opportunity for you to join us and make a real difference.
Using a newly created data warehouse, you will deliver insightful analysis to answer key business questions that directly influence the day-to-day and long term strategy of the business.
The opportunity will allow you to join an experienced reporting team, providing business-changing support to all levels within the organisation, including the Board and senior leaders.
**What does the role involve?**
- Provide regular weekly trading updates to the Board and Senior leadership teams, providing a high level insight into key sales and margin drivers
- Prepare, analyse and present monthly sales & margin packs to the Board, highlighting product and margin opportunities and areas for improvement
- Provide insights to the retail team on footfall conversion and margin quality improvements
- Support product price setting by forecasting impact on forthcoming product margins
- Support the BI team in their phased rollout of modern BI reporting systems
- Co-ordinate and develop the annual store sales budget, at a weekly and store level, taking into account the agreed marketing strategy
- Analyse and report back on in store business trials
- Conduct new store opening appraisals, assessing minimum investment criteria
- Model retail in store competitions to assess impact and reward
- Provide support on varying business strategy focus meetings
- Integrate 3rd part data insights into reporting streams
- Work closely with the BI reporting team to support the improvement in business reports, removing aged reporting in favour of modern BI platform based methods
- Partner across the entire organisation to support both financially and analytically towards their goals and priorities
- Continually challenge the norm and make recommendations on how to optimise business opportunities and minimise risks
**Who are we looking for?**
- Someone with a passion to stretch boundaries and deliver to the best of their ability
- A qualified finance professional with 1-3 years PQE with a proven track record of commercial analysis and business partnering
- Excellent MS Excel and financial modelling skills and have a proven analytical approach to problem solving and acute commercial awareness.
- Experience of BI reporting systems would be ideal but not a deal breaker.
- The ability to communicate and influence across the business and be comfortable business partnering across a variety of functions and presenting to all levels
