Working Chargehand

**Salary**

£21.89 per hour

**Due to an internal restructure within our Engineering Department, we are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Working Chargehand at our Skegness Depot.**This role plays a vital part in supporting the daily operations of our workshop while contributing to the ongoing success and reliability of our fleet.

**About the Role**

As a **Workshop Supervisor/Chargehand**, you will play a key role in supporting the Workshop Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team. Your focus will be on ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the depot, maintaining fleet reliability, and delivering outstanding service across all engineering functions.

**Hours of Work**:
Primarily Monday to Friday, day shifts. Flexibility is essential, as occasional afternoon and weekend shifts will be required based on operational needs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Supervise daily workshop operations and provide guidance to engineering staff.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on vehicles as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and company policies.
- Allocate both planned and unplanned tasks efficiently among engineering staff.
- Manage overtime in accordance with authorised limits set by the Workshop Manager.
- Keep the engineering status board and garage log up to date with all vehicle changes.
- Coordinate with the Operations team to manage breakdowns and vehicle changeovers to minimise service disruption.
- Oversee vehicle cleaning, fuelling, oil checks, and parking logistics.
- Accurately process vehicle defect cards in line with company procedures.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- A minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent e.g., City & Guilds Level 1 & 2) in Vehicle Repair.
- Sound knowledge of workshop operations and safe use of workshop equipment.
- Possession of a full PCV licence, or willingness to obtain one.

**All necessary tools, equipment, and uniform (including overalls) will be provided.**
