3. OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The Production Team Leader provides effective support in running production lines in accordance with product specification, company standards and procedures regarding Hygiene, Safety, Quality, Quantity and Cost.
The role will have responsibility for providing leadership, direction and support to General Operatives within the team. Working closely with the Management Team the Team Leader will have responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of the team as well as the Quality of the product produced by the team.
4. MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
**a) **Relationship Development**
- Build positive relationships with colleagues, managers and other departments, utilising these positive relationships to assist delivery of results through your team, and provide support towards the success of other teams.
- To ensure effective communications with site management and production teams.
- To carry out a team brief at the start of each shift with all team members, ensuring that KPIs are discussed and issues are resolved.
- Support the team with training and development, in particular with reference to the SOPs applicable to that process.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with production Room Leaders and Production Management, including Intake and Despatch, establishing two-way communication and accurate provision of information to support the efficient running and continuous improvement of production operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all functions including Engineering, Stores, Health and Safety, Environmental, Production, Technical, Planning, Finance, Sales, NPD, HR and L & D.
**b) ** **Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement**
- Responsible for line being ready to commence manufacturing at the start of the shift and run in accordance with standard run rates, including pre-start up checks and reporting any labour issues immediately to the Shift Manager.
- Identify and communicate immediately to the site Engineer and Room Leader any machine issues in order that they are resolved to minimise production downtime.
- Plan, organise and manage labour resources to ensure the Production Plan is met and there are no breaches to working time regulations.
- Ensure that team members on the line take their allocated breaks at the appropriate time and return to work promptly and restart the process.
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks via training and understand how the machinery works and product settings required fulfilling the department’s production requirements.
- Ensure all materials (packaging and product) are delivered to the production line within correct time frames, quality standards and correct stock rotation is achieved.
- Full accountability for the throughput, yield and giveaway for all products, including the weighing off of part cases and WIP items etc.
- Encourage team members to monitor product quality and reject any unsuitable products whilst ensuring waste is minimised and recorded accurately on a daily basis. Report any issues immediately to Room Leader.
- Accountability for full traceability and accurate labelling and paperwork, including 2nd sign off on process sheets.
- Clearly record any corrective actions taken to meet the product specification and report any unresolved issues to the Room Leader and Shift Manager.
- Ensure all equipment and working areas are cleaned to company hygiene standards prior to production and housekeeping rules are followed by the team adhering to “Clean As You Go” at all times.
- Ensure all processes are adhered to and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring team members are not on the line before completing the Return to Work process following any period of absence.
- Work collaboratively with HR and Payroll to ensure that all T&A matters are dealt with and closed out on the day.
- Effectively resolve employee issues in relation to absenteeism and/or performance, liaising with HR and Department Manager as appropriate and ensuring timely communication up and down the line.
- Ensure that all employees on the line receive appropriate training in order to effectively perform the role they are required to do, ensuring full compliance with SOP training and supporting the Room Leader with maintenance of the training matrix.
