Estates and Campus Services is responsible for the security of the physical assets, staff, students and visitors of the University.
**Purpose of **Role**:
The Energy Carbon Coordinator will define, implement, and deliver an effective energy and water usage monitoring and reduction plan, working closely with internal and external partners to ensure successful, outcomes aligned to the University's Carbon Management Plan promoting awareness of the contribution of the Directorate towards achieving the plans, identifying best practise in all activities, and ensure compliance with current and emerging energy and environmental legislation.
**Key Duties and **Responsibilities**:
- Manage the development of the utility metering and monitoring system, and ensure its effectiveness in relation to targeting and reducing energy consumption and in the promotion of stakeholder awareness of energy and water usage.
- Where applicable, work with our external suppliers / partners to review monthly utilisation and drive down carbon emissions across all areas, in conjunction with the gradual adoption of renewable energy strategies.
- Provide technical advice and assurance for energy related works to be carried out on campus and ensure that external contractors comply with industry standards & regulations and University's Contractor site safety rules.
- Responsibility for the management of the Electricity, Water and Gas budget each annum. Check and authorise invoices for all utilities and monitor against targets, managing the formulation of energy and water forecasts and budgets, setting energy and water projection estimates for each year. Prepare utility recharge invoices and bill external bodies / clients.
- Work closely with the University's Building Services Coordinator (Energy) and Building Services Coordinator (Controls) in pursuit of carbon and energy reduction initiatives.
**Person **Specification**:
- Experience of collating, analysing, synthesising complex data and compiling reports.
- Experience creating and implementing energy/water and carbon reduction strategies, policies and actions plans.
- In depth technical knowledge and understanding energy/water/carbon reduction policies and related legislation
- Ability to set own priorities and manage the progress of own work, contractors, consultants and in-house trades staff.
- Possess a sound knowledge, understanding and working experience of sustainability related statutory legislation and relevant industry codes of practice.
