Job Introduction
Landmarc Support Services is currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative.
As the Training Area Operative, you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train, this pivotal role is essential to the delivery of the contract.
We are looking for someone who either has previous knowledge of working on the Defence Training estate or someone who is keen to learn new skills and bring an enthusiastic willingness to learn, Landmarc will provide full training for the successful applicant.
Main Responsibilities
Preparing training areas for use
Maintenance of the training area to include grounds maintenance
Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment - full training provided
Basic forestry work - full training provided
Manufacturing targets - full training provided
Housekeeping
Equipment testing
Driving and operating fleet vehicles
Access control
Warning systems including training control offices, radar and flags
Report any defects or issues that you come across on the estate
Report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate
Handover/ take back of facilities with service users including providing information on ‘maximising’ the facility
Direct and advise wider training estate users including the general public
To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper based systems
To carry out additional works in response to additional contract requirements
Knowledge of Health and Safety such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work
Knowledge of range assignment instructions and range standing orders - not essential
Experience as a range/ training area user - not essential
Experience of communicating with customers
Work in a diverse multi-tasking mobile team environment
Basic laboring, caretaking and housekeeping skills
**Rural Estate Maintenance**:
Small scale forestry works including felling and respacing and tree planting
Operating plant and machinery - Tractor,JCB, Argo cat
Stone track repairs and maintenance
Dry stone walling
SSSI and Archaeology site maintenance
Enthusiasm for practical work in the outdoor environment
Work well as part of a team showing drive and motivation to improve the Rural Estate
Demonstrate proven track record of achieving objectives
Ability to operate rural plant and machinery - full training provided
Ability to complete documentation
Basic IT skills

Landmarc provides the support services that enable Armed Forces from around the world to prepare for frontline military operations across the UK Defence Training Estate (DTE). This includes maintaining and delivering safe and sustainable infrastructure, managing and operating training areas and ranges and delivering multi-million pound projects to improve vital training assets.
