The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Portfolio Management with monitoring and managing the underwriting performance of our portfolio of personal lines insurance accounts, mainly within the Mobile Telecommunication sector.
Working with a team of 10 analysts, the role involves mainly working with the European portfolio, but may also have some exposure to Asia-Pacific and Latin America portfolios.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
Monitor the underwriting performance of the SPL portfolio with the aim of protecting the profitability of the portfolio. This includes identifying performance enhancements and MI Improvements and work actively on the implementation of remedial plans where required.
Work with junior members of the team, to ensure that MI produced is accurate, consistent and continuously improved.
Co-ordinate and build collaborative relationships within the SPL business unit in order to enable the business to effectively manage the performance of the clients across the region.
Proactively identify and implement initiatives that positively impact the business unit from a growth and profitability perspective.
Support the Claims team with their focused activities to improve claims frequency and severity and enhance processes and procedures to improve scheme performance.
Provide comprehensive analytical support to help improve the business' understanding of performance, including the use of SAS. Use initiative to recommend solutions to complex problems and/or new ways of undertaking tasks
Help to develop account models, recommend improvements and provide support to team in their creation.
Assess new opportunities by developing pricing models and making recommendations for final underwriting sign off by the Underwriting Manager. This includes building pricing models and carrying out the associated analysis to accurately project performance. Analyseresults and providing recommendations on both coverage and pricing.
Creation of SPL Europe plans and forecasts, using both excel and TM1.
Closely work with SPL finance team to ensure premium is monitored and production variances understood
Involvement in the departments QlikView tool, including understanding how it works and be able to maintain and develop it
Assume responsibility for data integrity and thorough file documentation
**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
Experience in insurance industry
Proven experience in managing large datasets
Ability to handle data through relevant tools and ability to think logically and to work in a fast paced team.
Experience working with Excel at an advanced level
Progression towards CII qualification advantageous
Knowledge of SAS or other programming languages is advantageous
