The Gardener's Rest Coffee Shop and Restaurant form part of the Downham Home & Garden store which is one of Norfolk’s largest Home & Garden Centre retailers.

We are currently recruiting for experienced full-time restaurant assistants to support our thriving restaurant and coffee shop front of house to delight our customers.

You will display excellent customer service and assist with food preparation/service when required. Acting as the last check for food quality before serving to customers working with the kitchen team to ensure that standards are maintained.

We are offering hours up to 16 hours per week to be discussed at interview, including every other weekend between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm.

**What you'll be doing...**
- Welcoming customers as they enter the Restaurant area
- Taking customer orders in a timely fashion
- Cash handling and till operation
- Providing a waitress service for fresh food and to customers requiring assistance
- Serving food from the hot plate where appropriate
- Displaying cakes, desserts, and ambient products ensuring that they are well presented and stored at the correct temperature
- Cleaning tables and surrounding areas following a customers departure
- General cleaning down the coffee machine and carrying out deep cleans when required
- Daily washing/cleaning of floors, including hovering and sweeping, assisting with deep cleans every week
- After close making sure all items are labeled and stored correctly
- Replenishing stock and wrapping cutlery throughout the day
- Assisting with stock takes
- Assisting with the preparation of food items in the kitchen
- Reporting any faults or issues identified to the Restaurant Manager
- Contributing new ideas for improvements, theme nights, and new menus
- Referring customer complaints to the Restaurant Manager
- Supporting promotional events where required
- Maintain a clean working environment by ensuring that wipe-downs and washing up are completed regularly

**Skills you need.....**
- Effectively communicate
- Excellent Customer Service
- Previous experience of working in a customer service-focused environment
- Previous experience working within the retail industry
- Previous experience of working a till
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills
