This role sits within the Corporate Support team. Positioned within the Defence Support Headquarters, the team are responsible for enabling the wider organisation and provide assurance to UKStratCom that Defence Support has strong internal controls. More specifically, the team provides Business Management and Information (iHub) support to each directorate within the organisation and leads on Defence Support’s security, information, resilience, infrastructure, assurance and health and safety outputs. The team are also responsible for the Defence Support Management Plan and quarterly Management Board.
The Business Management Officer (BMO) is responsible for providing a wide range of essential services and support across the Defence Support Organisation. There are three BMO posts, and each has a focus on a particular Directorate within the HLB:
- Support Operations and the HQ
- Support Transformation
- Joint Support
This role is specifically focused on the Joint Support Directorate. The role of business management aims to provide SME support in the following areas:
- Office Services - The development and provision of a quality office services to the DefSp organisation, delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
- Corporate Governance - Upholding and championing the organisations internal controls, ensuring compliance throughout the Directorates.
- Managing Continuity/Resilience - Supporting the organisations resilience and continuity activity by effectively managing the Directorates Business Continuity Plans.
- Workforce Planning - Support the management of the DefSp workforce by contributing to the monthly resourcing reports and providing support to recruitment.
Although primarily focussed on providing business management services to the organisation, the role also encompasses the need for diverse, non-specialist support and bespoke tasking within Infrastructure, Security, Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) and Human Resources.
**Responsibilities**:
Day to day oversight and control of the Business Management team’s customer requests workflow, via a team of two Business Management Assistants (BMAs), one of which under direct line management control.
Maintenance of workforce planning information, recruitment records and the support of the Line Manager maintenance of HRMS.
Working with the DefSp People Team and the Corporate Support i-Hub, support the Induction of staff for the Directorates and ensure a smooth new starter/leaver process.
Support the C2 Corporate Support manager with Business Continuity and Resilience activities - work with Directorates to produce and update their plans and support the HLB Focal Point with annual BCP testing.
Support the DefSp Branch Security Officers, and where appropriate, undertake the duties of a Deputy Branch Security Officer.
Act as the focal point for all Infrastructure and HS&EP questions/data within your Directorate.
Administrative support for the Directorates training requirements, including monitoring and advertising Mandatory Training.
Act as ADO for Clarity and manage your Directorates hire car packs and fuel cards, ensuring compliance with UKStratCom policy at all times.
