**Summary**:

- The Air & Space Mission Team is part of DI Capability Assessments, based in MoD Main Building, London. It comprises of all-source intelligence analysts and specialist support staff. The primary role of the team is to produce capability and vulnerability assessments of potential threat systems in support of customers across UK Defence, including strategic (cross-government), operational and capability customers. Team members are drawn from both technical and operational backgrounds, with the Space Operations Team members being a mix of military, Civil Service and contracted colleagues. This is a rare opportunity to take up a position as an all-source technical analyst in the A&S Mission Team as a member of the Space Operations team, at an exciting time for the wider UK space enterprise. Primarily working to assess regional counter space threats, the scope will also include wider space-based threat analysis of Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance and other space-based threat capabilities. The work offers an excellent opportunity to utilise and develop technical, analytical and operational knowledge. Although a technical role, you will also be exposed to multiple teams across DI, the wider UK intelligence community and MoD as well as our foreign partners. You will be required to translate technical knowledge and understanding into usable products that will influence and inform wider military and government decision and policy making on space.

- Defence Intelligence (DI) is a world-class organisation that supports policy and decision-making at the heart of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the national security community. DI takes information from overt and covert sources to identify threats and opportunities, working across departmental and international boundaries. This includes some of the most sensitive work in Defence, and is fundamental to ensuring the safety, security and prosperity of the UK.
- The DI CA Air and Space Ops Space 2 desk officer post-holder is required to carry out technical assessments of space threat capabilites, primarily focussing on counter space technologies. The post-holder will be required to contribute to a wide range of product types, from detailed technical reports through to urgent, short notice, assessments and breifings for senior customers. They will produce, update and manage extant assessments on DI’s primary web-based product (THREATWeb); therefore, computer literacy, good communication skills and numeracy are essential. There is also a requirement to routinely liaise with a number of internal MoD and external agencies, including civilian companies, international intelligence partners and Cross Whitehall departments to enhance the UK’s understanding of threat systems. As such, there is significant potential for overseas travel (post-COVID).**Responsibilities**:
