**Role**:Payroll Assistant

**Type**: 12 month fixed term contract

**Salary**:£26,000 per annum

**Location**:Predominantly home based, induction and training and one day per month must be carried out at the Telford office

**Duties of the Payroll Assistant**:

- Contribute to the provision of an excellent HR service for The Trust
- Assist in ensuring all payroll records are maintained to a high standard and statutory and best practice requirements are met
- Ensure all payroll information and expense claims are prepared within time limits and in compliance with best practice, recognising confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Provide a professional, consistent and customer focused service in assisting with completion of payroll processes and procedures as required adhering to HMRC legislation and company policies
- Maintain sickness absence records including reasons for absence
- Support Payroll with the monthly payroll cycle, the production of administration relating to company pension schemes and allocated payroll tasks
- Work with HR and Finance when required to assist in the production of reports and update computerised systems
- Participate in training courses, ie. Induction, Equality and Diversity and Employability Skills
- Carry out office administration including: Answering telephone queries in line with data protection guidelines, setting up new folders for payroll data when required
- Deal with general word processing duties and the maintenance and production of Payroll spreadsheet work, including letters, reports etc
- Co-operate with the HR Partner and Payroll Consultant to ensure that adequate cover is available in the team
- Processing of input for payroll, covering all monthly Trust and Partner payroll variations
- Handle data in relation to Trust and Partner payrolls, responsibility to ensure that all records have been received and processed accurately and on time
- Calculating statutory payments in line with company policy and HMRC legislation
- Answering and resolving queries about employee payments from employees, supervisors and managers, including My Cintra reset, referring queries where necessary
- Support in the production and maintenance of payroll service user manuals
- Assist with projects in both HR and Payroll, carrying out any other duties appropriate to the role

**Requirements of the Payroll Assistant**:

- A minimum of 2 GCSEs including English and Mathematics or equivalent is essential
- CIPP Payroll Technician or equivalent is desirable
- Willing to work towards a Payroll qualification
- Relevant experience of undertaking administration in a busy Payroll office environment is desirable
- Working knowledge of payroll and HR including data input and statutory calculations
