Collections Conservation Assistant
As part of part of a national team of collections conservators, you will assist with delivering the care and conservation of our historic collections in the North region, ranging from archaeology to decorative arts and social history, so they can continue to play a key role in bringing history to life.
You will work closely with the Collections Conservators in the North, as well as the Historic Properties teams at sites. You will be responsible for conservation cleaning of historic artefacts, interiors and stores, including planning and completion of conservation cleaning schedules. You will also undertake other preventive conservation work such as; checking environmental data, insect pest monitoring, responding to emergencies, installing protection and providing supervision during filming, events and building work. You will provide training and support to site staff and volunteers relating to preventive conservation.
You will work closely with Brodsworth Hall's têxtile and costume collection, coordinating and supervising volunteer support for an on-going repacking project.
We would like you to have experience of undertaking conservation housekeeping work for historic house collections and historic environments. This post will require flexibility to adapt to challenges, the confidence to work at height, the ability to lift objects and the willingness to travel extensively within the North region. Excellent communication skills, confidence using IT and the ability to drive are essential.
