Senior Semantic Technologies Consultant
Salary £60,000 to £85,000 pa depending on experience
This is an exciting time to join us and we are looking for motivated, capable people to join our growing team and help deliver the wide range of cutting edge opportunities we are seeing across our markets.
As a senior consultant, you will be expected to lead project teams that deliver high-quality solutions to our clients. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with clients, shaping the direction of both current and future projects. You will guide the process of defining the scope of projects, which includes the technical feasibility, delivery approach, resource requirements, costing and client management. You will also play an important role in the development of others by mentoring junior members of the team on projects you lead.
**Requirements**:
**You will have**:
- Practical knowledge of semantic modelling techniques and open-standard semantic web technologies such as OWL, RDF, SKOS and SPARQL. Also desirable is experience of related standards such as SHACL, SPIN and RDF*, as would some experience of labelled property graph technologies and standards (e.g. Cypher). Ideally you will have an appreciation of some common ontology frameworks such as Basic Formal Ontology (BFO) and open ontologies such as OWLTime, PROV-O. Experience of geospatial semantics (‘geosemantics’) and the OGC GeoSPARQL standard would be an advantage.
- A background in data modelling and data architecture, and be able to identify when to propose to use semantic/graph techniques, and when other data modelling and management techniques are more appropriate. You should therefore possess knowledge of a range of data management technologies and techniques (including both SQL and No-SQL approaches).
Whilst not essential to the role, knowledge of any of the following would also be desirable:
- Knowledge of the underlying theories of formal logic, set theory and graph theory would be useful
- An interest in, or experience of, using machine learning techniques, or natural language processing in conjunction with graph databases.
- Experience of the defence, energy, transport, health or central government sectors
