Your new role: Southend on Sea City Council is seeking an Elective home education access advisor to join their Access and Inclusion team on a full time and **2 years** fixed term contract basis. This contract is within an established team and it is being offered on a flexible and hybrid work pattern. As an Elective Home Education Access Advisor, you will build relationships and engage with children and their families who Electively Home Educate (EHE) in their homes or community bases and provide support, advice and information for accessing a suitable education. You will monitor and record the learning, progress, achievement and welfare of individual learners who are registered with the authority, across Southend, determining if education is suitable and identifying and reporting on any additional needs, barriers to learning and/or welfare concerns. You will appraise, report, and update a record of actions, progress, achievement and suitability of education for all EHE learners using the LA’s information management system (Capita). You will be responsible for the maintenance, and accuracy of all child records, for all home learners assigned to case load and ensure these remain up to date. You will provide excellent education advice and guidance to parents on all aspects of education delivery, learning styles and curriculum for all key stages and lead on the preparation, planning, and presentation of learning and curriculum information events for parents. **To meet the needs of the service, you will be expected to adopt flexible working patterns to cover occasional evenings and Saturdays.** What you'll need to succeed: To be successful in this role, you need to have knowledge of the relevant areas within the Education Acts, Children’s Act and relevant DfE statutory guidance, in particular Children Missing Education; Elective Home Education statutory guidance’ and Working Together to Safeguard Children. It is vital that you have experience of working with children and/or families within an educational setting. You must be able to work collaboratively with senior leads, other partners and key stakeholders within educational settings. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences is highly essential for this role.**You must possess Qualified Teachers Status (**QTS**) to be considered for this role.
