Animal Technician

**Basic Requirements**:

- Animal care or science-related qualification and a genuine interest in the care of animals.
- Animal handling and husbandry experience with rodents.
- Attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records.
- Prior experience working within an animal laboratory facility.
- Willingness to undertake training in accordance with Home Office requirements.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring the health and welfare of animals in accordance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
- Routine animal husbandry, observations, weighing and marking of procedural animals, environmental monitoring and record keeping.
- Maintaining appropriate records, informing researchers of performance and available numbers of specified strains.
- Maintain and set up laboratory equipment.
- Daily documentation of all environmental parameters in accordance with the ASPA and reporting abnormal conditions.
- Providing support to researchers during minor procedures, performing experimental protocols including assessing competency during Schedule 1.
- Understand compliance with Home Office regulations.
- Providing support by cleaning and sterilizing racks, cages, and equipment as required to help maintain efficient operation of the facility.
- To work unsupervised with support from management regularly.
- Participating in weekend and College Closure work rotas (paid at overtime rates)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: £22,000.00 per year

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
