**Financial Controller**

**Skelmersdale**

**Circa £50,000 (slight flexibility dependent on experience)**

I’ve partnered with reputable Transport operation who are experiencing a tremendous period of growth.

The primary objectives of this role will be to oversee the accounting operations of the business, providing high quality, timely, accurate and relevant financial information/reports, and delivery of efficient and speedy service delivery from all accountingfunctions.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Ownership of all month-end processes including payroll, and responsible for month-end closure. Produce month end reports and analysis.
- Coordinating the management of cash flow, debt and debt collection. Including the maintenance of the business cash flow forecast.
- Supervising and managing financial department staff (12), including setting objectives and monitoring progress. Identify resource gaps and provide solutions to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
- Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls, and continuously challenging and improving the processes to suit business objectives (quality excellence, efficiency, relevance, etc).
- Build relationships with stakeholders and business partner across the wider company, using high quality, relevant information and service delivery for the business to achieve its objectives.
- Key team contributor in the budgeting and forecasting process
- Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required. Ensure the timely delivery and accuracy of annual audit schedules, including balance sheet reconciliations
- Support capital investment evaluation and planning, and other ad-hoc purchase activities to ensure that business quality and cost objectives are considered
- Ensuring that department work output is delivered efficiently and to a high standard. Streamlining and improving all accounting systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance to all relevant financial/accounting regulation (external and internal)
- Other ad-hoc activities, as and when required.
- Helping the CFO in presenting reports to board member and other senior executives

**Person Specification**
- Financial accounting (in a financial accounting role).
- Cost control and analysis.
- Production of regular monthly and annual reports
- Audit background
- Recommends the right strategies to ensure the organisation adheres to governance structures and applies best practice internal controls
- Agile and Flexible in your approach
- Self-starter and possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Organised and proactive individual
- Ability to challenge the business to make effective decisions whilst being cost-conscious. Use business and commercial acumen awareness to deliver business objectives
