**Community Outreach Worker - High Peak/ Derbyshire**

Do you want to help households in your local area stay warm this winter? Do you like talking to people from all backgrounds and have a can-do and practical approach?

We are looking for a new member of staff to join our friendly Derby & Derbyshire team who are dedicated to making a difference for households as they face difficult times this winter and beyond. Your work will support our growing activity in the High
Peak, as well as further afield in Derbyshire as required.

You don’t need energy experience, but you will need to be a quick and keen learner, and open to new challenges. Training and support will be provided.

You will:

- Support householders with free, impartial energy advice in people’s homes, at events and over the phone
- Provide and fit simple energy saving measures such as LED bulbs and cold alarms
- Work with colleagues to provide long term support, for example, through grants for energy efficiency measures or financial help

**Person specification**:

- Be able to communicate effectively with a householders from a wide range of backgrounds, both in person and over the phone or remotely
- Have an interest in energy efficiency and be keen to learn more
- Have good, basic practical skills such as being able to program heating controls or fit a light bulb
- Be able to organize your workload
- Work well as part of a team
- Good local community networks would be an advantage
- Be competent in the use of IT, particularly Microsoft Office. Able to confidently pick up new tools, such as our online database, with training and support.
- Be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to, and understanding of, our climate and ecological crisis, and to our values
- Full driving license.
- Be based in North Derbyshire, or within easy travelling distance
- Ability to deliver presentations and training to partners would be an advantage.

MEA is an independent charity with reach across the Midlands. We have nearly 25 years of experience in helping householders keep warm and well at home. We have grown rapidly in the last two years, to help meet a growing number of households struggling and as part of the transition to a low carbon homes.

**Training**: Support will include undertaking a Level 3 NVQ in energy awareness and day-to-day supervision. You will also be expected to undergo a basic DBS check.

**Pay**:£23,540 - £25145 pro rata per annum; optional employer pension of up to 5%; work travel costs paid. Opportunities for progression in the role and organisation.

**Location**: Home-working with face-to-face outreach to partners and residents.’

**Hours of work**: 22.5 - 37.5 hours per week including some weekend and evening work. Flexible working considered.

**Leave**: 24 paid days pro-rata per annum + bank holidays.
