Refuge Domestic Abuse Family Support Worker

**Oncall 1 week in 4**

To provide individual and group work support and activities to women and their children who are living in FCWA refuges and ensure that service users are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

The post involves working closely with women survivors of domestic abuse and violence and their children, following support plans which are in place.

A key requirement of the post is the implementation of needs assessment, support plans, safety plans and risk management plans.

**MAIN DUTIES**

To provide high quality practical and emotional support to residents within a structured key working relationship.
- Ensure needs/risk assessment and individual support plans and risk management plans/ safety plans are followed.
- To conduct key work sessions on a regular basis and keep casework records up to date.
- To assess welfare benefit requirements of women and her children in refuge and to ensure prompt take up of housing and other benefits.
- To assist in covering FCWA’s DVA helpline.
- To assist in FCWA’s chat service
- To welcome new arrivals showing around premises, settling into accommodation, providing information packs, (clothing and food where needed), explaining house rules, signing of documentation e.g., residents’ licence agreement and being available to answer any queries and to deal with concerns.
- To maintain knowledge of local services and refer women to specialist agencies where appropriate as part of their support plan.
- Receive regular supervision from your line manager
- Undertake appropriate training to maintain expertise in domestic violence/abuse, housing and welfare benefit
- To communicate immediately with the line manager any breaches of security, house rules or licence agreements especially where there is concern about safety of individuals, staff and other residents.
- Provide a service, which is sensitive to all cultural and other differences and needs and ensure that all women and children are able to access a quality service in accordance with FCWA’s Equality and Diversity Policy.
- To ensure good practice in safeguarding children and young people and follow policies and procedure.
- If required, carry out regular fire and health and safety checks in accordance with FCWA’s policies and procedures.
- In conjunction with the line manager, to arrange and supervise where appropriate garden maintenance, window cleaning and cleaning of communal areas. To ensure a good standard of hygiene is maintained in the refuge. To clean and prepare vacant rooms with fresh bedding etc for re-letting, personally carry out cleaning when required and other light manual duties as needed.
- To develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all FCWA’s staff, including colleagues at other sites.
- To work within the confines of confidentiality and ensure that professional boundaries are always maintained when working with residents, staff and external bodies and to work within FCWA’s Code of Conduct. To ensure that security of sensitive information is maintained.
- To be available for Oncall service on a rota basis
- To carry out any other duties that may be required by the Line Manager and work at any of its other sites when required to do so.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £12.21 per hour
