**Primary Teaching Assistant**

**Summary**
A welcoming specialist school in Blackburn is looking for a nurturing and reliable Primary Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This long-term, classroom-based role offers the chance to support children with SEND including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties, helping them thrive in a caring and structured environment. Full-time and part-time applicants are encouraged to apply.

**The Role**
- Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups during classroom activities, promoting engagement and understanding.
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider TA team to deliver personalised, differentiated learning plans.
- Contribute to wider enrichment sessions such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy and Speech & Language activities.
- Track and record developmental milestones, including reading progress and communication skills.
- Supervise and assist during break times, lunch, and sensory-based sessions including soft play.
- Learn and use basic Makaton to aid communication where required (training will be provided).
- Foster a positive, consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding and the wellbeing of every pupil.

**The Ideal Person & Skills/Education Needed**
- Calm, caring and motivated by a desire to make a difference in children’s lives.
- Confident communicator who can collaborate effectively with pupils, teachers and families.
- Team-focused with the ability to take initiative and adapt to changing needs throughout the day.
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant is a bonus, but not essential — backgrounds in care, health, youth work or support work are very welcome.
- Resilience, empathy and a strong sense of purpose are key.
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification is required for this mainstream primary SEND role.

**The School**
The school provides specialist support for pupils with additional needs in a mainstream primary setting. With a strong focus on individualised learning and emotional development, the team works collaboratively to ensure each child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Staff wellbeing and professional development are highly valued.

**Hours**
Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm. Open to both full-time and part-time applicants.
