Women's Trauma Stabilisation Practitioner
2 weeks ago
**GENERAL**
The Women’s Centre Cornwall has grown from its early roots as a Rape Crisis Centre into an innovative, award-winning feminist organisation which provides a wide range of services for women and girls in our communities. Our work with survivors of sexual and domestic violence is our core specialism as we believe that there can be no real gender equality without a complete cessation of violence against women. In addition, we provide community-based activities across Cornwall and support women ex-offenders across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.
**PURPOSE**
The purpose of the project is to determine whether the provision of trauma stabilisation support to women on probation in Dorset, improves their physical and mental wellbeing and reduces reoffending risk. This project is specifically for women on probation who have experienced sexual violence. Through a safe and trusting relationship with the project’s practitioner, women will learn about the effects of trauma on the body, and how to achieve emotional stability - e.g., ability to calm the body, regulate impulses, self-soothe & manage post-traumatic symptoms.
**Responsibilities**
- To manage referrals into the service from the Dorset based CRS practitioners (Open Service) and attend 3-way, handover meetings with each woman
- Carry out initial assessments with women using a trauma informed approach
- Provide psychoeducational support and trauma stabilisation for a varied caseload of women on probation (POPs) who have experienced sexual violence
- Maintain and update clear and accurate data records of case management
- Utilise a range of qualitative and quantitative tools to monitor women’s journey of progress including the CORE-OM (Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation - Outcome Measure) and the Trauma Symptom Checklist-40.
- Contribute to maintaining up to date knowledge of services available and ensure women are aware of different pathways available to them in the Dorset area
- Ensure all safeguarding risks are communicated affectively to the Safeguarding Lead/SV Pathway Lead
- Pls note - Salary is pro-rata._
- TWCC values diversity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community, especially from women with lived experience of the issues we address, and groups with a protected characteristic such as Black, Asian and minority ethnic women, who are currently under-represented at TWCC. TWCC are a Disability Confident employer_
