In 2021, they announced plans to move even more of their productions to bases across the UK. Their teams in Cardiff and Bristol are leading the way with a variety of programmes and podcasts for Radio 3, Radio 4, World Service and them. They're now lookingfor Assistant Producers to support content within the new topical output team based primarily in Cardiff. This is a critical position bringing together some of their current programmes with output moving from London. If successful, you’ll be part of some ofRadio 4’s biggest programmes including Saturday Live, Any Questions? Any Answers? and Last Word. You’ll be working for one of their fastest growing production teams and based in their newest building in Central Square, Cardiff.
You’ll have a knowledge and understanding of current affairs. You’ll enjoy research, generating ideas and have an eye for detail. They'll need someone with experience of deliver live and pre-recorded audio content. You’ll have a passion for audio and radio,particularly from them. They will also want someone who is a champion of impartiality, diversity and sustainability.
They're a new hub within them bringing together network radio production teams in Cardiff and Bristol. Staff have opportunities to collaborate, develop ideas and further their careers across a wide variety of output for all their Radio networks, the WorldService and them. Their areas of production include: current affairs, science, factual, rural affairs, food, documentaries, books, music and drama.
They have around 670 editorial and technical staff who create and deliver more than 100 hours of original audio every day. Their podcasts and radio programmes are heard across the UK and around the world and they work with some of the biggest names in music,entertainment and journalism. They collaborate with world class partners to deliver social value. This is just a selection of the 22,500 programmes they work on every year.
**Role Responsibility**
The role involves supporting the day to day editorial and logistics of topical audio content. You will be expected to source, develop and produce compelling, imaginative and innovative programme content, rooted in strong storytelling and journalism. As wellas generating and researching ideas, you’ll be expected to produce live and pre-recorded content for Radio 4.
You will have a track record of producing compelling content and possess strong team skills. You will be able to support the turn round a weekly programme quickly and efficiently, respond to a fast changing brief and be able to deal with the demands of liveoutput. You should have an interest in current affairs and be curious about the world around you. You will be a competent in editing and finessing material with the ability to creatively use sound effects and music.
- Proven knowledge of and interest in news, politics, current affairs and/or history and culture
- Proven radio digital editing skills - (preferably on Dira Highlander/Sadie)
- Demonstrate research skills and ideas generation
- Driving licence (travel required)
- Technical proficiency in audio recording on location
- The ability to devise briefs for presenters to create incisive, focussed interviews.
- Experience producing on location and in studio
- Experience of delivering programmes efficiently
