You will be well supported by senior colleagues, with many opportunities for peer support. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines.

This role is situated within the LSCFD and is hosted by Nottinghamshire Health Care NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of the Violence Reduction Unit (associated with the Nottinghamshire Office of the Police Crime Commissioner). The role requires a motivation to support Children and Young People with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). We aim to provide an efficient and effective speech and language therapy service within the designated setting.
**You will**:
- Be required to have a relevant qualification at equivalent level of NVQ level 3.
- Need to demonstrate an ability to work flexibly, motivate, show initiative, work as part of a team under the direction of the Speech & Language Therapy team based in the project.
- The Speech & Language Therapy Assistant post supports the work with CYPs as well as the wider project, playing a key role in developing adapted resources and modelling communication strategies.
- Need to possess well developed IT skills
- Need to be motivated to work flexibly and innovatively with Children and Young People.

The Divert Plus project employs a team of Police officers, mentors, youth workers and SLTs who all work to support Children and Young People. Some of the strengths of this role is that it is innovative, it makes understand and addressing Speech, language, Communication Needs a priority for services, it works in a strength based model and ensures collaborative working part of it’s guiding principles when supporting this complex population.
The service includes individual therapy and management, training, advice and a consultative approach. The team work with CYP age 10-17 who meet the threshold for support with their SLCN. Our overall purpose is to support the individual to maintain positive relationships, engage with services, avoid custody and work to have a safe and happy life within their chosen community.
