Work Wales are currently looking for a **Backend Operator** to join one of our newest clients based in Swansea (SA5). The company are one of the largest, independent metal printing companies in the UK.

Key Responsibilities include:
Production
- To read, understand and implement the settings, specifications and customer requirements set out in Works instructions and Print Plan.
- Setting and operating the back-end of coater, achieving the efficiency, utilisation & throughputs as agreed with the Team Leader. Keeping line stoppages to a minimum
- Help machine Operator to wash down coating line between jobs and at end of shift.
- Use solvents and other chemicals both in cleaning and manufacturing processes.
- React in a timely manner to issues that contribute to wastage on the line
- Using the online IT systems to accurately complete transactions such as stock movements, line downtime, quality checks etc
- Ensure receipt and despatch of all relevant goods is managed effectively
- Work closely with the coater operator, together taking responsibility for your decision making and quality of work
- Work closely with your FLT driver, assist if necessary, keeping downtime to a minimum by ensuring jobs/materials are moved efficiently on and off your line E.g. previous jobs have been removed and next jobs have been prepared
- Support and participate with the Team Leader with continuous improvement activities
- Complete line maintenance tasks as appropriate and having received appropriate training
- Assist engineering with breakdowns when required
- Support Coating Operator and Team Leader with fault diagnosis for both quality and production issues

Quality
- Ensure all materials/equipment are fit for purpose prior to starting the line into full production E.g. Bulks, rollers and coatings
- Ensure bulks are correct orientation and spec before running E.g. burr, width of sheet, thickness
- Complete and accurately record quality checks at specified times as set out in LOP’s
- Take corrective and preventive action when defects occur ensuring the company HFI procedures are followed.
- Sample inspect printed/coated tinplate for defects during production runs and as final quality control check.

Requirements for the role include:

- Good Secondary Education
- Process Knowledge of Printing & Coating
- Knowledge of Food Safety & Hygiene Requirements

The role involves working on a 3-shift pattern: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, and 10pm-6am.

Pay rate: £10.66- £12.26 per hour
