**A quick look at the role.**

The role holder will assist with the day to day operations of an anaerobic digestion plant, to control flow and processing of waste, sludge and effluents by using a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, ensuring health & safety and environmentalcompliance, whilst contributing to the continuous improvement in productivity, plant availability and the requirements of sub products produced.

Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off **(days only).**

- Diagnoses operating problems and undertakes necessary corrective action.
- Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process adjustment requirements.
- Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control. Starts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes.
- Provides accurate and detailed records of all plant operations, settings and stoppages and maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings.
- Manages traffic activities on site using Control Room CCTV system and 2-way radio.
- Supports the engineering function in developing a programme of planned preventative maintenance, inspection and cleaning to minimise downtime and provide records of recurrent faulting.
- Keep abreast of changes to health & safety, environmental legislation and Company policies and procedures to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented.

**Requirements**:
**Here's what we require**:
**Essential**
- Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English
- IT literate - comfortable using business software and systems
- Analytical with the ability to measure & monitor data and take appropriate corrective action
- Able to communicate at all levels, both in verbal & written form
- Lives within 30-mile radius of the AD plant
- Full UK car driving licence

**Desirable**
- IOSH or other safety qualifications
- Minimum NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent with an engineering bias
- 5 years' experience as Control Systems Technician or position of similar responsibility ideally in a green waste/water treatment process plant or similar
- Experience in the principles/practices of an anaerobic digestion plant (or similar) operations, operating principles of valves, pumps, motors and any other similar instrumentation
- Experience in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system
- Experience of working in a 24/7 operation
- Development and implementation of data capture and recording systems
- Understanding of Green/Food Waste along with EA and ABPR regulations
- Background in Composting/Green Waste/Food
- Waste/Water treatment plants
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical process environment
- Electrical engineering
