People Pillar Ltd is a Kent based HR Consultancy supporting charities and small businesses across the UK. We are passionate about providing exceptional service and pragmatic advice to our clients and we are looking to grow.

This role is home-based with occasional travel to client sites and team meetings / working from our office in Hythe, Kent.

You’ll work 16 hours per week (days and times to be agreed). As the business grows, there may be scope to increase your hours.

We’re offering a salary of £28,000 - 30,000 pro rata.

This is a fast-paced role in a growing company, and you'll have the opportunity to develop your HR and consultancy skills.

To be successful in this role, you'll have previous experience in a busy HR environment and genuinely want to be involved in helping to grow the business. You will be willing to get stuck into a wide range of tasks and possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

You'll ideally be CIPD qualified to Level 5 or have equivalent experience, have a good understanding of HR best practices, and be highly organised with strong attention to detail.

**Duties**

In this varied role you can expect to be working on the following tasks and duties as the main focus of your time:

- Managing HR administration support for the full employee life cycle for our clients including recruitment and onboarding through to leaver processing and exit interviews.
- Creating new employment policies and procedures, employer guides and resources bespoke to a client’s needs.
- Becoming our superuser for our HR system.
- Being the first point of contact for HR queries with appropriate escalation where required to the HR Client Manager.
- Providing first-line advice and guidance on company policies and processes including but not limited to absence, annual leave, maternity/paternity /shared leave etc.
- Providing support and notetaking (on site and via Microsoft Teams/Zoom) at formal meetings/hearings.
- Maintaining comprehensive records via our client management system.
- Ad hoc project work, for example, salary benchmarking or staff engagement surveys.
- Administrative support for all other HR activities including TUPE & restructures.

This is a fast-paced role in a growing company and the above list of tasks and responsibilities is not exhaustive. The role may change and adapt, in consultation with you, as the team grows.

As a member of our small team you will have the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of activities, and to develop your HR, client facing and consultancy skills.

Our HR Officer role will be ideal for you if you:

- Are CIPD qualified to Level 5 or have equivalent experience.
- Have experience in providing HR and recruitment advice and support to line managers and in carrying out HR/recruitment administration.
- Have an understanding of up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Have experience in a consultancy or supporting SMEs (desirable).
- Have a good understanding of annual leave calculations.
- Have experience using an HR information system or other online database. Knowledge of BreatheHR would be an advantage.
- Are able to use Microsoft Office to a high standard.
- Are highly organised, diligent and with strong attention to detail.
- Have a friendly, proactive and professional manner with confident communication skills and strong relationship building skills.
- Have the ability to manage multiple priorities whilst remaining calm.
- Believe that “if it’s going to happen, it’s down to me”.
- Are self-motivated with enthusiasm to learn and progress.
- Are proactive - you like to think and suggest rather than wait to be told.
- Are enthusiastic and good at working as part of a team.
- Are comfortable working independently and using initiative to make decisions.
