**Role Summary ¦**The Production Buyer is responsible for purchasing and processing jobs that are classified as project jobs. This includes ensuring material availability, performing material call-offs from drawings, and maintaining buffer stocks. The role also involves purchasing against Supplier Long Term Agreements (LTAs) and being involved in their setup, ensuring all information is clear and clean for the next activity in the production process.

Hutchinson Engineering is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist steel support structures, primarily to the Mobile Telecommunications, offshore and Wind-Turbine industries. The business operates in-house Design, Manufacture and Deployment functions from several sites located in Widnes and Garston and has a turnover of £25m and employs 160 personnel.

**Personnel Qualifications ¦**
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
- The ability to establish robust routines and schedules.
- Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Previous experience in purchasing is desirable.

**Key Responsibilities ¦**
- Purchasing Activity: Achieving appropriate quality, cost, timescales, and value in purchasing activities, including best supply routes and costing of new jobs/estimates.
- Material Call-Offs: Reviewing technical drawings to generate material call-offs, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Supplier Long Term Agreements (LTAs): Purchasing against LTAs and being involved in their setup.
- Clear and Clean Information: Ensuring all information is clear and clean for the next activity in the production process, facilitating smooth workflow and minimising errors.
- Target Costs or Budgets: Ensuring all purchasing activities are conducted in line with target costs or budgets to maintain procurement efficiency and cost control.
- Stock Control Raw Material: Maintaining buffer stocks and purchasing additional materials as needed during job processing.
- Supplier Management: Ensuring suitable suppliers are available on the Approved Suppliers List for all business activities.
- Material Traceability: Ensuring systems are completed correctly to prove material traceability for all Workshop and Parts Supply (PS) activities.
- Status Reporting: Updating systems to monitor production functions and compliance. Identifying and raising any at-risk jobs with the Production Manager (PrM) and Project Manager (PM).
- Daily Blockers: Resolving day-to-day issues during job issuing and formally reporting them.
- Department KPIs: Taking ownership of KPIs related to processing.
- Improvements: Assisting in identifying and implementing improvement initiatives within the department.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
