We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team at Cygnet Brunel. Are you looking to explore a more rewarding clinical challenge in a Specialist Neuropsychiatric treatment and rehabilitation Service?

**Post**: Occupational Therapy Assistant

**Base**: Cygnet Brunel, 32 bed Specialist Neuropsychiatric Service for Men.

**Responsible for**:The post holder will form part of the Occupational Therapy department on site as well as contributing to the wider MDT team.

**Responsible to**:Occupational Therapist’s within Cygnet Brunel

**Hours**:40 hours per week, with some weekend working

**Location**: Crow lane, Henbury, Bristol, BS10 7DP

With over 150 OTs in the company, we also work together as a large team providing support to each other across the group, with various specialist interest groups to tap into, including Mental Health, Neuropsychiatry, Autism, Learning Disabilities and Sensory Integration, to name a few.

**Overview of site/Ward**:
**Cygnet Brunel** in Bristol offers an extensive Neuropsychiatric treatment, care and rehabilitation pathway which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of service uses within our care.

**As an Occupational Therapy assistant you will**:

- Under the oversight of an occupational therapist, complete elements of the occupational therapy process, guided by standard operating procedures and protocols. This may include, but is not restricted to: assessment, analysis of results, care planning including prioritising and grading targets and goals; interventions on a group or individual basis both within the hospital and in the wider community, grading and adapting activities to suit individual strengths and needs and aspects of report-writing.
- Support individuals in your care to identify and work towards meeting their personal goals and aspirations through the assessment process and occupational formulation
- Work with a degree of autonomy and as part of a team to manage a designated caseload within your scope of practice.
- Share information effectively and concisely in a range of situations (effective daily documentation; attendance at meetings to handover information; face to face handovers of information to colleagues; report-writing and care planning)

- National networks of over 150 OTs in the Cygnet Group within different specialisms including Forensic Practice, LD and ASD, Acute mental health, PICU, and inpatient CAMHS
- Low caseload number to support intensive OT focused interventions
- A clear understanding of the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life
- Knowledge of the importance of occupation and activity
- Experience of adapting and grading activities and tasks to support independence and confidence, running groups and activities, working with people who have diminished capacity and responsibility for their own actions.
- Evidence of training or education relevant to therapies is desirable
- Effective communication skills, good organisations skills and a positive attitude
